Mahonet, founded in 2001, is a specialist in the wholesale of cleaning products and personal protective equipment (PPE). With a 30677,14 sq. ft. (2850 sq. m.) warehouse on three levels, Mahonet wanted to increase its logistics efficiency to meet its daily challenges. Stock management, accurate inventories and shorter order preparation times... These objectives led the company to turn to Satelix for an adapted WMS solution.
A geography with many logistical challenges 🌍
A small archipelago in the Indian Ocean, Mayotte faces logistical challenges due to its island geography and limited infrastructure. As a result, logistics supply can be easily disrupted, as it relies heavily on sea transport. The result: longer lead times and additional costs. It is therefore necessary to prevent potential stock-outs, which could have a direct impact on business. Storage space is another major issue, particularly on an island covering 374 km².
Meeting logistics challenges with the Satelix Logistics WMS 📦
Like many other companies in Mauritius, Mahonet is facing a number of major logistics challenges. With a new warehouse on three levels, the company needs a solution capable of maximising the use of storage space. In addition, managing such a large warehouse naturally raises the issue of stock accuracy. This is especially true for a distribution company.
The company is also looking to improve its operational efficiency and optimise its logistics processes by, for example, reducing order preparation and processing times. It is also looking to improve customer satisfaction, in particular by ensuring faster deliveries. The response to these various challenges should enable the company to simplify its decision-making by accessing data in real time.
Fast deployment of the WMS: 3 weeks to optimise Mahonet’s logistics ⏱️
The Satelix Logistics solution was implemented in several stages. All supervised by Christelle, our consultant.
- Preparation on plan. This work enabled us to determine the storage areas for each of the three floors. It also determined the location codes and the goods picking circuit.
- Organisation of arrivals. Receiving goods in the new warehouse in a coordinated and controlled way.
- Readjust plans if necessary to optimise operations.
- Location identification. By printing the location codes and identifying the different aisles and zones in the warehouse.
- Module testing. This is an essential step in ensuring that everything works, starting with the module for transferring stock from the old to the new warehouse.
This logistics project was successfully completed on 5 July 2024, after the move and rapid implementation of the solution.
Concrete results: increased efficiency and optimisation of logistics processes, thanks to the WMS 📈
The company is completely satisfied following the deployment of the Satelix Logistics WMS. The various modules used (including order preparation, receiving, stock transfer and inventory) have enabled them to significantly improve their logistics performance. Moreover, the Satelix teams are in regular contact with Mahonet to fine-tune the solution to their needs.
