Because it's always interesting to get to know the people you work with. Because the expertise within our company is as much technical as it is human, we've decided to tell you a little more about each member of the Satelix team. To kick off this series of interviews, meet Aurélien Cochonneau, Satelix Development Manager. Employee profile.

CAN YOU EXPLAIN YOUR JOB AND YOUR ROLE AT SATELIX?

So I've been with Satelix for over 16 years. But I wasn't always in charge of the development department. There wasn't really a department, at the beginning it was just me who was in charge of development. The department as it exists today was only created 3 or 4 years ago.

Historically, I created the first version of Satelix Logistique and developed it over several years. Then, gradually, the product had to be redeveloped from scratch because of the arrival of the Android operating system on the hardened barcode terminal market and the end of Windows CE.

The development department had to rise to the challenge of producing a first version deployed in 1 year. And in a further year, to achieve a scope that was virtually functionally the same as the previous version of logistics.

I currently manage a team of 6 developers and steer our two projects, 'Satelix FDV' and 'Satelix Logistique', by managing the release plan, customer-specific development requests and any bugs. So that's my overall role at Satelix.

WHAT IS YOUR VIEW OF THE COMPANY? OUR VALUES, OUR VISION AND OUR AMBITION?

Satelix has a clear vision of where it wants to go and has very big ambitions. Namely, to become a pure software publisher and no longer deploy our solutions ourselves, but to have integrators. Satelix also wants to increase the number of ERPs that are compatible with our solutions, so as to increase the opportunities for collaboration. Another of Satelix's ambitions is to go even further internationally, and no longer restrict ourselves to French-speaking countries. Many deployments are underway...

This vision of evolution and expansion suits me perfectly, because there's nothing more boring than resting on what you've already achieved. It may be tiring at times, but it's so satisfying and fulfilling. When I look back at where Satelix started and where we are today, I can only congratulate us on how far we've come.

IF YOU HAD 3 WORDS TO DEFINE SATELIX, WHICH WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

3 words? I'd say...

  • KNOW-HOW. Today, we have real expertise in our solutions and in the ERP systems to which we are connected.
  • RESPECT. Both towards our customers and amongst our colleagues. It's the basis of a healthy and lasting professional relationship.
  • FRIENDLINESS. Satelix remains a company on a human scale, not to say a family business. Interpersonal relations and team cohesion are strong.

WHAT PROSPECTS DO YOU SEE FOR THE COMPANY? WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN 5 OR 10 YEARS' TIME?

It's always complicated to say what Satelix will look like in 5 or 10 years' time, but I think we're well on the way to achieving our objectives and beyond.

We can imagine our development department doubling or tripling in size. Demand is growing all the time, so we need to be able to respond effectively. As I often say, at Satelix we don't lack ideas, we just lack the time to put them into practice. So with more resources, we can only go faster. It's a great promise for the future.
